Conversations with Heather Taft

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Taft.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello there! My name is Heather, I am originally from the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I currently work at one of Denver Colorado’s most edgy salons called Luxe De Vil. I also do a bit of fashion, bridal, and event hair.

I’ve worked incredibly hard my entire 20’s to move across the country in 2018 to create a new exciting life and discover the pursuit to happiness. I finally found where I belong! I’ve never felt more connected anywhere else. It’s an exhilarating feeling!

When I moved to Colorado, I decided to get into the fashion industry and I caught on very quickly and started creating some really neat styles from basic flattering up styles to edgy editorial type work. Since then, I’ve been published in multiple magazines and featured on websites, worked fashion shows, and events. This year was my first official bridal season and I’m having a blast doing it!

I would love to be on set with Lindsey Stirling and style her hair for one of the fantasy-themed music videos she does and travel the world doing fashion and bridal gigs. That will be the dream life for me 😌

To be continued…!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Unfortunately, I was immediately put out of business when the pandemic hit Colorado hard last year in March, and I was forced to go back home to Florida with family until things started to somewhat make sense in the world again. 2020 was a very devastating time of my life and I endured an extreme amount of emotional pain. Awful things kept happening, leaving me feeling helpless and defeated.

Resilient as I am, I mustered up the strength to get back on my feet and moved back across the country to Colorado to continue the pursuit to happiness. And now I’m actually doing better than I ever have before! I’m anxious to continue where I left off and see what the future has to offer 🙂

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Growing up in Florida, I am very good at highlighting hair. I’m a balayage guru. I also specialize in bridal, high end, and avant-garde type fashion hair. What sets me apart? My creativity runs deep and my passion to be a celebrity stylist is a compulsion and I’m eager to get to Hollywood. I’m actually making my big beak next year! I’ll travel to California and network like crazy. Eventually, I want to go back and forth from Denver to LA doing gigs and discover what it’s like to truly live my dreams.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Taking risks has made my life journey so fulfilling. Life experience is priceless. I think it’s so important to learn how to be uncomfortable. Because when you work hard and the anticipation eases up, and you reach that goal, it’s insanely rewarding! I’ve taken risk after risk and it definitely does not work out all the time, but eventually, things do because I have the motivation to prosper. Growth is imminent and we might as well take a gamble or else miss out on the opportunity.
