Conversations with Fredrick Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fredrick Brown.

Hi Fredrick, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I go by the stage name of (Jayb Savage) I’m 28 years of age and a Florida native Every since a young age I been in love with music… I was raised up around music being played in my household by mom and stepdad and in the neighborhood, I grew up in on the Southside of St. Petersburg FL my dad was a DJ so I learned a lot about music from him and I watched him DJ a few times I remember my dad told me he use to DJ for a radio station but I’m not for sure which station it was so in a way my dad really inspired me to do music besides my passion for it I grew up listening to artists like… trick daddy, Isley brothers, ying yang twins, 2pac,

R Kelly, biggie smalls, Mystikal, Lil Wayne … And a few other artist I started writing my first songs anywhere between the ages of 12-14 years of age I also did talent shows when I was in middle school at meadowlawn middle and in high school at north east high school I performed in front of like 700 people in high school though I was nervous but it was fun they actually liked it they still got me in the 2012 year book at my high school when I was on stage as I got more involved with music people start recognizing me more for doing music even though I was a lil’ popular in school it made me feel good but I got into doing real shows like at venues and events that’s what helped me more get over my fear of being on stage I wanted more people to hear my music so I started posting my music on Myspace at the time when Myspace was around then I found out about SoundCloud then started posting my music there and I started to gain a lil’ more fans and people was liking my music so it gave me the motivation to keep going so then I posted songs on YouTube and shared my songs on Facebook and my views and fans went up from that point then I found Instagram and I gave it a try and now Instagram is one of my favorite platforms to share my music on I was actually doing comedy at one point as well I’m funny dude so I got into making comedy videos to make people laugh but my music was more of an eye catch to me so I started to stick with the music and over the years I progressed with music and got better as a Lyricist/artist now people really love my music and that’s how I got to where I am now

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My obstacles were less support from people closes to me I went through a lil’ criticism as well coming up doing music but it only pushed me to get better and my challenges were making music that people like, making better music than I did before, and just getting more people to hear my music getting more views like and fans from my music it’s a lot of artist in today’s time so I do have competition out there but I just be myself when I make music and I don’t really try to pay attention to competing against other artist due to my love for music

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m actually working on being more self-employed basically like my own boss and being an entrepreneur I working on building my studio up so I can make more beats to sell and putting more of my music on major platforms to get paid from my music I’m saving money at the moment to invest into a pressure washing business as well as selling custom-designed clothes I learned 1 stream of income won’t help bring in the money you are looking to make to I learned to have multiple streams of income I have worked at many jobs but it’s getting to the point to where I just wanna work for myself now

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters the most to me is having a better future for myself and my loved ones especially for myself I wanna be something in life I don’t wanna end up as a low life in life and as well as (god) I feel like without God being involved in your life things can get rough and my kids because I also get motivated by them as well to keep pushing for better and to be better
