Community Highlights: Meet Alex Quigley of TherapeuticFeels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Quigley. 

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Three years ago, I was at a crossroads in my life when it came to my career choice. I had been working retail for about 6 years when I finally decided I needed a change, I wanted to offer more to others, assist in the process of healing and de-stressing from the workings of everyday life, AND work for myself rather than a 40 hour a week job. I began my massage therapy journey in New York City going to school in the middle of Times Square at the New York College of Health Professions. This was pre-pandemic so the city was very much alive during my studies there, however; the pandemic then hit NYC and it quickly became the epicenter. It was then that my partner and I decided to move back down to Sarasota, Florida. This put a huge worry and stall in my massage journey due to the fact that I was now challenged with ensuring my credits would transfer successfully to a school in the area. I soon found the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy and immediately jumped on the planning of starting back up at this location. However, I was quickly shocked when I was told I would have to start over from the beginning, at this time I had already had a year of studies under my belt but the difference in requirements from state to state is what caused this. I always saw myself as an individual that never gives up, my career was and will always be important to me, and not only that but I have always wanted more for myself. I graduated from Sarasota School of Massage Therapy in July of 2021 and immediately jumped into planning and creating my own concierge massage service brand. Throughout my journey I always felt as though I wanted to offer more, I take pride in what I do with my experience in massage therapy and quickly understood that my pride is what drove me to create Therapeutic Feels. I want the best for my clients and felt as though having an option for a private massage therapist that comes to your home was the best option for me. I care for my clients as if they are a part of my life. With me being a private massage therapist and offering the at-home service that I offer, this gives me the chance to really get to know my clients and their primary needs. I am capable of seeing the progression with each session and am able to personalize the massage more than I would be able to at a franchise or a spa. I believe in really making my clients feel important rather than just another body to work on. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This being my first time planning, creating, and seeking help in the creative process it has been an interesting road. I have no experience in the creation of a brand let alone the setup of a website and how much time it consumes. The planning process was very fast, I know what I wanted, how I wanted it to look and had to relay that message to my brand strategist to ensure it was different from the other professional massage therapists in the area. I think the biggest struggle was ensuring my brand was like no other and trying to ensure my brand stood out amongst the competition. When trying to build a business or a brand you have to ensure that you offer something different. This was the biggest struggle, ensuring that I offered something appealing to others and gaining the following (which is still something I am working on today). If you do not have public recognition or a place in the community and you are starting from scratch it is difficult to gain that following quick, which is something everyone wants. However; I have come to understand that consistency is key, never giving up and following through with your ideas or dreams are more important. THAT’S what will gain traction. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is a 100% concierge massage service. This means I provide all the supplies needed and the only thing my clients have to do is book. During the pandemic a lot of people are still very wary about going out to public places, I feel as though this allows them to still enjoy something in the comfort of their own home. I provide all supplies such as but not limited to massage table, oils, sheets, hot stones, and essential oils. I offer 60-, 90- and 120-minute experiences in which can be booked all online at my website With that there also 6- and 12-month packages available and the option to add on a hot stone treatment with your experience. I specialize in Swedish massage, deep tissue, hot-stone massage, and aromatherapy. I call my massage experiences because that is really what you get out of it. A massage should be remembered by the client and no two massages should ever be the same. Each person is different with their needs or chief complaints AND even if you have had several experiences with me, your body is never the same as it was the day or week prior. I am known for my strokes being almost choreographed and compared to a ballet. I have been told that my strokes are smooth and each transition is carefully thought out to ensure that my clients remain in a relaxed state. I feel as though my branding sets me apart from others. I wanted to give my viewers and clients a relaxing atmosphere to look at. My colors are muted and each photo on my website has been carefully positioned to ensure ease of reading. Ultimately standing out was my ultimate goal, giving my clients and viewers something, they weren’t used to or expecting from a massage therapist.
