Check Out Emily Plas’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Plas.

Hi Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I grew up as a classically trained dancer spending most of my upbringing on stage performing with the professional company, Ohio Dance Theatre. Through performing, I realized at a young age I was fascinated by all things beauty!! I couldn’t wait for the performances and the freedom of applying stage makeup. I knew this was a passion of mine from a young age.

After relocating from Las Vegas to Tampa in 2011, I decided to pursue my passion for make-up artistry. I received so many requests to do special event make-up that it went from being a hobby to a job that I love. I trained formally at the QC Makeup Academy and received my Certified International Makeup Artist Certification.

I’ve also attended multiple masterclasses with celebrity makeup artists in NYC and Miami. I have worked as a freelance make-up artist for the renowned Giorgio Armani Beauty traveling all over Florida as well as Beauty Blender by makeup artist Rea Ann Silva.

I chose the name Beyond Blush because I believe make-up goes beyond simply making people look good. I enhance their natural beauty and make them feel like stunning, glamorous versions of themselves. I have the passion, ability, and tools to take your everyday look beyond the ordinary into the extraordinary.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Is anything a smooth road?? It’s always a challenge when you have to step out of your comfort zone, however, that is where growth happens. I was always told certain professions won’t make you any money.

As I got older, I started seeing that A LOT of people out there are miserable in their work life. I made the decision to be happy in my work life knowing that I was going to work harder for something that meant so much to me. I’ve realized that you just have to keep going, keep moving, and keep taking another step.

A challenge I had to face is constructive criticism. I’ve had to realize that everyone is different and everyone doesn’t have to like what they like. So you have to be open to people criticizing your work.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a makeup artist and love all things beauty and skin. I have been obsessed since I was little. Anything that has to do with the beauty you can count me in.

I research it, I test it, I wear it, and I love it all. Every woman can in some way relate! And I think the thing that sets me apart is I want to enhance the beauty you already have, to be the best version of yourself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am definitely lucky for the support of my husband and family! I am a pretty strong, take-charge kind of person but to have the love and support from them makes all the difference.
